Ever felt anxious, or maybe just unenthusiastic about conversing in a group? Sometimes, when we’re out mingling, we simply have nothing to say. We can’t talk about the way one of our family members drove us nuts on the phone last night. We don’t want to discuss all that dieting we’ve been doing, or that the gutters need cleaning.

The tense situation at work, and your grim state of financial affairs? Not appropriate for cocktail hour.

If you find yourself at a loss for words, it may be a sign of more than just shyness. In fact, maybe you’ve heard the expression -You need to get out more.- Some take that as an insult – but it’s actually excellent advice.

Think about the people you know who really shine in a social setting. They’re great storytellers, and they know how to instantly connect with others. And there’s also something else about them. They’ve got things to talk about! When you hear about their latest adventures, your life seems droll and monotonous in comparison. It’s depressing, right? So then change it!

Here are some activities you can partake in that are guaranteed to whet your appetite for conversation- and for living!

Fit a weekly movie into your schedule.
You don’t have to spring for a full-price ticket or the latest blockbuster. There’s plenty showing on cable, not to mention movie rentals and DVDs that you can add to your permanent collection. When was the last time you sat down (not fell asleep!) and really lost yourself in a great film? Or, how about a little variety? If you’re a comedy person, switch it up and watch whatever’s playing on the Independent Film Channel this week. Even if the movie turns out to be a bomb, you’ll have an opinion to express.

Hop in the car and just GO.
You don’t have to battle traffic into the big city- chances are there’s probably at least one quaint little town within a ten-mile radius that’s worth seeing. If the weather is nice, why not play hooky and just spend your day taking in the local culture? Even -Podunk- towns have historic landmarks and museums, curious folklore and other weird-isms that might make for good party chatter.

Attend a concert or show.
How many times have you sat next to someone who’s all about the latest broadway show, and you have no idea what they’re talking about? Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Even if you think that something like opera wouldn’t be your cup of tea, it never hurts to just venture off the beaten path every now and again. You might pick up a new pastime- or, you might decide to tell everyone -I never want to hear another show tune for the rest of my life!- The point is, you won’t know until you try it out.

Jet off to another country for a week.
Have you always wanted to run barefoot through the rolling hills of Ireland? Dine in an outdoor cafe in Venice? Or, if going abroad is just too much to think about- how about Maryland or Cape Cod during the summer, California wine country, Las Vegas or the Deep South? Still too much? How about bed and breakfast down the shore or up in the mountains, any time of year? You can always find a deal online for air travel or lodging. Check out Travelocity or venture into your local travel agent’s office to find out what kind of rates you can get.

Do something you wouldn’t normally do.
Think that kayaking and river rafting is -over the top?- Or is sky diving the next step up for you? Figure out what you’d like to try out. Spelunking? Rock climbing? (Even if it’s the wall at the gym!) Find a buddy or bring together a small group and head out for a weekend adventure. Or even if you’re not the daredevil or nature buff type- just do something out of the ordinary like refurbishing an old, antique piece of furniture or fixing up a classic car. Who knows- your dabbling effort might just become a cherished hobby one day.

Not wanting to talk because you’re introverted is one thing. But have you ever thought that you’d have more to say if you learned to balance your life better? Work/life flexibilty is a challenge for most people. Our jobs and families take up the majority of our time, with social and personal responsibilities close on their heels. But when life becomes so monotonous that we have absolutely nothing to say- take that as a sign. It’s time to get out more!

Financing a classic car can definitely be an investment opportunity if done right. You will need to do your homework, but it can be very rewarding if you are able to own an old classic car and it becomes an investment. Typical cars lose value due to depreciation, but collector cars usually do not lose value. I’m not saying that all gain value, but they generally do not go down in value. In this article I will help you understand the classic car market, how to find investment opportunities, and how to secure a low rate loan making the classic car purchase a real investment opportunity.

The most highly collectable classic cars are original stock models. Cars with unique and rare options or limited edition models add more value to the original stock model. Take the 1971 Hemi ‘Cuda as an example. Only 119 of these were built, with 11 of them being convertibles. The original coupes command $100,000+ but the convertibles value are off the charts. The last auctioned 1971 Hemi ‘Cuda convertible commanded 2.2 million dollars in 2007, and I believe there are only 5 known convertibles in existence. If you were able to find one of the other 6, which is highly doubtful because they have probably been crushed and destroyed, you would have a truly classic and valuable car.

Of course you won’t find a model this rare, but that doesn’t mean there are not other opportunities in the market to make an investment. There are many old cars that need to be rebuilt to be a sweet ride, and finding original cars to be restored is not that hard. Even though more and more are being restored, they can still be found. Generally the bigger the engine, the more valuable a car can be. Putting a larger engine in a car that was originally built with a smaller motor will not increase the value of that car much more. What engine the car was originally built with can be determined by the serial number of the car and/or the body plate tags. On many models there are other codes on other hidden parts of the car, like the firewall. Do your homework on the models you are shopping around for to know what to look for.

Many times, the engine will also be stamped with a serial type number denoting when it was manufactured, and the number may coincide with the VIN number of the car. This is another great way to figure out if you are dealing with a pure stock model or not. Many muscle cars of the late 1960′s and early 1970′s had their engines pulled and bigger engines were put in for racing. Today, these cars are being converted back to stock form by hobbyists, but it is almost impossible to find the original engine to put back in. A car that has all the original parts is usually termed -Matching numbers car- or something similar. These are the cars that can be the most valuable once restored.

Clones are reproduced versions of rarer collector cars. Some clones that are often reproduced a lot are Yenko’s, Buick GSX (especially Stage II’s since there were only a handful built, and the original’s command $500,000+), and Chevrolet SS models. Usually a basic level model of that series is used, and the larger engine, badges, and colors are used to reproduce the rare model. Don’t be fooled by these. They may be cool, but are not worth that much, at least not as much as the originals. Mostly fans and hobbyists create these. I am not a big fan of them, but they are what they are. What irks me the most is when owners do not come outright and tell this about the cars in auto shows. On a closer inspection especially if you are ready to buy, these clones should be easy to spot. Most buyers who have done even a little bit of research know how to spot an original model, and if you are buying something that expensive thinking it’s the real thing, you will likely want to have a professional appraisal and inspection on the car as well. They will do a detailed analysis and confirm whether it is original or not.

So the two options you have on finding an original stock model is to buy a car that needs restoration, or buy one that is already restored. Both have their positives and negatives, although those positives and negatives may be different between purchasers. Buying a car that needs to be restored will obviously be cheaper in the beginning, and likely you will not need to finance the purchase if it is only a few thousands of dollars. The big question then becomes, are you ready to do the restoration? Do you have the money to do this, or will you finance it? Are you mechanically inclined and planning to do most of it yourself, or know a good mechanic or buddy that can help? Or are you a clutz when it comes to mechanical work, and want to have it fully restored professionally? You will save a lot of money if you can do the work yourself, and I’m willing to say you will probably love and appreciate that newly restored ride just that much more with your sweat and blood put into it. Professional restorers can cost quite a bit of money, and it is not always worth it on every car to use. You will want to price check and do the research on how much your restored car will be worth before determining if a professional restoring company is the right choice for you.

So the title of this article is questioning how a classic car loan can be an investment. Considering the value of classic cars over the last 15 years or so have gone up 10% to 15% a year, borrowing money at 6% to 8% (A typical classic car loan) can be an investment if what you are purchasing is rising in value twice as much as that interest you are paying. You do need to do your homework carefully, and with the economic uncertainty we are currently in, there are no guarantees. But then again there are no certainties in almost any investment. The only other big tip I can give is to shop around classic car and collector car lenders if you choose to finance a purchase. You will find lower rates, longer loan terms, and overall you will have a better experience than going through a traditional lender. Specialty car lenders know how to value a collector car, and they specialize in the area so the transaction will be smoother.

If you’re searching for Classic Car Financing look no further! the Classic Car Financing HubPage is proud to boast the most extensive reviews online! Why Classic Car Financing?

Classic cars are worth more money than some people realize they are. Your local bank may not offer a collector car loan, but there are many lenders that specialize in collector car financing. The best classic car financing companies are ones that offer simple interest collector car loans and refinancing. Financing is available for almost any special interest or collector vehicles. Loan approvals must be good for at least 30 days to allow for financing at no cost to you before going to a classic car auction. Loan applications can usually be found online and can be approved in five to ten minutes. About CLassic Car Financing Companies

Classic car financing companies usually require you to have extremely good credit and a minimum of ten percent down on payment is required. If you have had a bankruptcy in the past 7 years you will not be able to get financing for your vehicle. Modified cars will require expert appraisal, but most other cars will only need a quick inspection. VIN numbers and engine startup will be checked upon entry. You will also need proof of insurance, income, down payment and purchase/sale agreement. Restoring and preserving classic cars is a tricky task but well worth the effort if you have the passion. Getting the financing and loans to buy the parts and pieces to restore your beauty at home is easy if you use the right company.

Some of the things mentioned previously in this article refer to the things that you need in order to qualify for financing your vehicle. Cars are a memento from our past. We were a generation that was producing machines that were meant to last and not burn out like these modern day combustible engines. With the proper care and attention you can preserve those memories you hold so dear. It is affordable to get classic car financing to make your dreams come true.

It’s a cold January morning at 8am and I have just arrived at gym to set up the equipment for my latest 6 week self defence course. The class starts at 10am, but I like to get in early to get the training area ready to go for the 10 o’clock start. It also gives me some time to have a cup of tea and a chat with some of the new students. This is a vital part of the day, as the majority of people who are booked in are complete beginners and it always a sure bet that their adrenaline will be pumping as they get closer to the gym entrance. It is, after all a Saturday (their day off) so a friendly face & a warm cup of tea are always welcome.

I have been teaching Martial Arts & Self Defence for over 15 years now and in that time, the percentage of females who attend my classes, seminars & workshops has increased dramatically. I remember back to the early 80′s when I walked into my first martial arts class- there was one female amongst a whole group of men! In total today, there are 25 booked into today’s course – of which 12 are women. Over the past 15 years I have continued to train in various martial art systems which ultimately lead me into opening my first reality based self defence school 5 years ago, and this is what is planned the next 6 weeks- reality based self defence. Many of you who read this article will be wondering what the difference is with reality based self defence & martial arts. Let me briefly explain and give you REAL situation that happened to me 10 years ago.

I had normally used my motorbike to travel to and from work, but the bike was in dire need of a mechanical service, so I gave in and booked an appointment with a garage. The following 2 days (while the mechanic waited for certain parts to arrive) I had to rely on the bus! I remember thinking (while I waited on the bus) how uncomfortable I felt not having the luxury of my bike. I remember feeling angry about having to wait for the parts to arrive – how easily we take things for granted. My brain was engaged looking at how comfortable people where sitting in their warm cars that I didn’t notice the 2 thugs who where approaching me with bad intention on their mind. It only became obvious when one moved into my flank and at that stage it was almost too late. I had fallen into their trap, the classic -pincer approach’ – a favoured manoeuvre of the career street mugger. I was asked a question about money, I didn’t exactly hear what he said (this is a side effect to adrenaline reaction, which we will discuss later) and just then I was attacked! It seemed like an eternity, but of course it only lasted about 5 seconds. I was lucky, I managed to run away.

Before I go any further, let me give me you a brief description of myself. I stand 5ft 11 inches tall, I weigh over 14 stone and with a lifetime of continuous hard training 5 days a week has resulted in a solid physique backed up with a strong heart & lungs. So why was I chosen? Could these thugs not see I was not to be picked on? Was it not completely obvious that I was bigger than them and out weighed their drugged ravaged bodies by at least 3 stone? No they couldn’t see this – no more than I could see them planning their attack and that is why I was chosen as their target In a word what I lacked was AWARENESS. What just happened? I ran as fast as I could, but where was I going. I didn’t care .I just needed to get as far away from the scene as quick as my legs could carry me. Why hadn’t all my years training in martial arts helped me in this situation? The simple answer was that on the street there are no rules. I just hit everything and anything that came close & ran, but this wasn’t like anything we had been doing in the gym. These guys didn’t give me a chance to block, or adapt a stance, did they not understand that it was not part of the plan to spit in my face just before they whacked me!

This was to be the start of my continuous search for a system that would work under such conditions. For anyone who has practiced martial arts (including myself) you will be aware that all traditional martial systems have rules. When you face your opponent, they have a series of blocks and strikes that they can use against each other. If they get cut, the fight is stopped, if you’re not defending yourself, the ref will stop it, or if you’re really finding it hard going, your buddy will throw the towel iin.

This is why I now train primarily in RBSD (reality based self defence). I am not by any means advising you not to train in a traditional system, quite the contrary. Any traditional system you train in will have great benefits. It will increase your confidence, your fitness, your reaction time, your flexibility, all good stuff, but what it won’t do is prepare you for that bowel loosening, leg shaking, and temporary deafness that kicks in when faced with raw uncontrolled aggression.

My aim is to give you some advice on how to make yourself a HARD TARGET.

The first thing I tell all my students is that real self defence is 90% mind set and 10% technique. We must first understand the attacker’s rituals, before we can prepare ourselves.

Ritual of Violence:

Most attacks like the one I described are preceded by stalking and brain engaging dialogue. Most attackers will use dialogue as their pre-cursor for an attack. This is why it is so important to include this scenario type training on a regular basis. Many self defence Instructors I have trained with over the years fail to explain and teach what really happens both psychologically & physiologically when attacked.

We must be always switched on to our environment. If we are switched on to the attacker’s rituals, then usually you won’t be selected as a victim. Some common rituals (body language & dialogue) that we should always be aware of are:

Dialogue: Excuse me mate have you got a light? This is a common question that most of us will have been asked at one time or another.

Excuse me; I think you may have dropped this 2 coin! Immediately you think. Nice Guy. He is a Good Samaritan.

Excuse me mate, would you have the right time please? This engages the brain while giving the attacker the opportunity to draw a knife on you.

Body language: Hand gestures to the face and mouth area. Subconsciously the attacker knows he wants his hands above you, so he will often hold his hand higher than yours, ready for attack. He will often cover his mouth while speaking (as if scratching his top lip with his index and thumb fingers (This is a natural instinct that is in us all from childhood. Think of the child telling a white lie and or blurting out a profanity and immediately covering his or her mouth. This is because what they are saying is a lie) or he/she may move their hands forward gesturing for you to light their cigarette.

Erratic eye and or head movement: This is because their adrenaline is pumping and they are twitchy- constantly scanning for police or bystanders involvement. Just before he launches his attack he may look past, through or around you constantly checking his environment.

The attacker will (whether he knows it or not) work off an action trigger. This is when he/or she asks a question. Excuse me misses do you know where the nearest newsagents is around here, and as soon as you go to answer your brain is engaged for a split second and this is his/her trigger to attack. This is just a small sample of the attacker’s rituals. But the one that we should al be aware of and never fall into is the Distance Close Down. What I mean by this is never to allow anyone into your personal space. Fully extend your arm out in front of you, with fingers extended-..this is your space and never allow anyone step into it PERIOD.

This is called a FENCE and it is drilled in every class, seminar or workshop I teach. It was devised and adapted by Geoff Thompson of the British Combat Association. Geoff is regarded by me and many of my peers as the greatest self defence instructor in the world. I was privileged to be asked by Geoff to teach his system in Ireland.

Ok so let’s look at putting in place a Self Protection Game Plan and how to make ourselves a Hard Target. In order of importance -

Awareness (avoids& escapes)

Situational Control

Pre-Emption

Continuous Attack

Escape

Awareness/Target Hardening (stay switched on and maintain a confident posture)

Avoid & Escape where possible.

If approached, protect space with the fence & move into a line-up position.

Verbally de-escalate the situation if possible.

If this fails, engage attackers brain, employ action trigger- Strike first, fast and hard then escape.

If necessary keep striking until threat subsides then escape.

Having a prepared game plan based around situational awareness will increase your reaction time and provide you with a pro-active opportunity to deal with the situation.

Remember the game plan the number 1 Priority is Avoid & Escape – Ultimately whoever is pre-emptive in a potentially dangerous situation is usually the person who survives the attack. This is very easy to say, but not so easy to do. Think of the situation:

Your standing at a bus stop, your tired after a hard day’s work, just before you left the office you had a few cross words with the boss, your mind is wandering. You’re not happy, you’re trying to remember what is in the fridge for dinner. Its cold – your hood is up, the scarf around neck and gloves you are wearing are slightly restricting your movement. You look down at your shoes and wonder why you hadn’t bought them tuff waking boots you promised yourself. At least they would be warmer than these lose, worn and out of style high heels. You look up and are a bit startled, you didn’t notice the guy who now is standing uncomfortably close to you. Sorry misses I didn’t mean to frighten you, the buses on this route are a nightmare. In a split second you weigh him up. Well dressed, well spoken, no visible tattoos, or over loaded with sovereign rings. You feel a bit relaxed as he makes small talk. Then in a blink of an eye the dialogue turns aggressive. This is complete shock to you. You gut instinct tells you that at any second you are going to be attacked. The only chance you have of stopping his attack is a Pre- emptive strike.

My Top 10 Tips:

1. Awareness: As I said earlier, if you are situational aware you will avoid most conflict situations.

2. Always be pre-emptive. In the majority of situations, whoever is pre-emptive will survive.

3. Be very aggressive when you attack, if your pre-emptive strike is weak this will only trigger more aggression from the attacker. Learn to hit with your body weight.

4. You must continually attack until the treat subsides.

5. In general women are physically weaker than men, so women must always strike at the parts of the anatomy that cause most pain and disorientation to the attacker or attackers. Mainly the face (below the eye line) a full body weight slap to this area will cause a brain shake in the attacker, but not forgetting the eyes. Remember it doesn’t matter how big or strong the attacker is he can never build muscle on his eyes.

6. Make sure the clothes you wear are functional. Think about the girl at the bus stop in the restrictive shoes and clothes. You don’t wear a karate uniform in the street. Make sure your reality training provides classes that allow you wear clothes that you would normally wear from day to day.

7. If you’re approached for your bag, phone, or money etc my advice is to hand it over. My items of monetary value can be replaced or are insured .Is it really worth dying for your mobile phone. But always be prepared. The attacker may want more than just your bag or phone.

8. When in your car: Always have the doors locked
Never pick up hitch Hikers. Always make sure you have enough fuel to go from A to B and back again.
Know how to change your spare wheel. If you get a flat tyre in an isolated area, drive extremely slow, but never stop until you are in an area that is safe to do so. A car can drive on 4 flat tyres at a slow speed.

9. Try to break into your own home! I know this might sound ridiculous, but I bet all of us will have locked ourselves out at one time or another. The reality of it is that we can do it relatively easy. So how easy would it be for a career criminal to break in and lay in wait for you to return. Make your home a HARD TARGET.

10. Analyze your typical day: Look at the times and places that you feel most venerable. You can bet this is when and where a potential attacker would choose. Change your routine now, and keep changing it if you again begin to feel vulnerable.

The classic car restoration could be a daunting task particularly whenever you determine to do it your self. However, it is possible to involve your families and buddies to make it intriguing. The classic cars are meant to be fun in your family and hence its restoration ought to also be fun. The initial step need to be separating off the parts of the car. Get a camera to ensure that it is possible to take photos of the original parts of the car.

In case you get confused when you are reconstructing the car, you are able to refer to the photos you had taken to have a rough idea of how the original fitting was fixed. Get some cardboards that will help you to label them for easy retrieval if need be throughout restoration. One notebook must have items that call for being replaced although the other has items to be repaired. The inventory will be crucial for helping in you determining the price of the repairs. Your budget must be planned on this.

Make certain to have steel wool since it’ll come in handy inside your car restoration method. You will find distinct kinds of stainless steel suitable for scrubbing various places.
Failure to use the right type of tape will put your freshly painted car at risk of acquiring scraped off. In case you might have applied the tape and you’ve just realized that you have use the wrong type of tape, don’t worry as there’s an additional alternative. Get your hair dryer and heat the tape gently as you peel it off. You will note that the warmth from the dryer reduces the rate at which your paint is peeled off.

It was a warm summer night; the first time your dad let you use his hot new 57 Chevy to take Betty Sue, your new girlfriend to the drive in. You were so cool with the slicked back hair, t-shirt and Blue jeans. There you were driving around town showing off to your friends and impressing your new girl in that hot car that screamed power, up and down the road. Finally you pull into the drive in, you are ready to -watch the movie- and- Well, you know the rest of the story.

Fast-forward 50 years. Wouldn’t it be great to still have that 57 Chevy that you grew up driving? Unfortunately you can’t afford the one that has been completely restored by the local body shop. Your only hope is to restore that old car yourself. Amateur auto body can fun and rewarding, but also a lot of work. Most of these projects take professional auto body shops several hundred hours to accomplish, double that for the do-it yourself auto body man or woman. The following tips should help get you fast on your way to restoring that old broken down car to a classic gem.

First you need to set a budget and come up with a game plan on how where to start. The best thing to do is make an inventory of what is good on the car that can be saved and reused and what has to be replaced. Once you have that done you can go on line to find the parts you need or find a car parts supplier that specializes in your vehicle. Check out the parts and see just how much all those parts are going to cost. If you need any sheet metal parts those are the first things that you should order. If you are not sure if you are going to need them, hold off a little until you get farther along. Don’t order everything you need up front, which just generates a large investment of parts taking up space in your garage.

Next, it’s time to get your hands dirty. It’s typically best to take the car completely apart marking all the fasteners and where you took them from by putting them in a separate zip lock sandwich bag. When you do this make a note of any broken or missing parts. You should also remove the complete interior and store it someplace so as to not damage it and keep it out of your way. If the glass is good take that out as well and store it in a safe place, replacing auto glass can be expensive. If you are unsure of the best way to remove all the glass, call a local auto glass company to remove it, they can also reinstall it when you are ready

Now that you have disassembled most of the car, it’s time to strip the finish. This can be done mechanically, with liquid or having it professionally done with acid dipping or media and or sand blasting. Once that is done it should be immediately epoxy coated before you do any bodywork. By this time you should know for sure if any sheet metal parts are needed. Continue doing any rust repair and removing any dents in the surface. When done with a panel or section make sure that you prime those areas so you prevent your body filler from taking any moisture from the air which could lead to rusting or paint failure.

Once all the body work has been completed and primed it would be a good time to make sure you have the rest of your parts. Sometimes parts are not readily available or get back ordered. You may get them in a week or less or it could take months. Now is the time you hope you have a good back and broad shoulders because this is the step where it either makes or breaks the restoration. What I am talking about is the arduous task of block sanding the complete car and re priming it. This step is often overlooked and very important to the overall finish after it has been painted. Primers are less expensive than your paint and clear coats, because of this it’s very cost effective to make sure all flaws are corrected before going on to the next stage. Finally, prep it for paint and start refinishing per the recommendations of the paint manufacturer that you are using. All paints today are catalyzed and very toxic; therefore it is very important to make sure you have a well-ventilated or clean shop to spray in. If you do not have a place like this, put safety first and consult your local professional auto body shop.

After all the paintwork is done, you should at least wet sand any dirt, runs or imperfections out of the finish. You do not have to final polish at this point because you will be working over a lot of this when you reinstall all the trim and parts. When everything is back together you can finally do a final polish and wax to the finish to achieve that classic car look. Only then can you proudly drive and show the car off to your friends and family. Oh, and don’t forget Betty Sue!

Please remember that the small details are what make the final job look professional, complete and what car enthusiast’s look for.

The term Antique Classics is used in reference to old cars. According to Antique Automobile Club of America, an antique car is generally defined as a car over 25 years of age. However, the exact legal definition for the purpose of antique vehicle registration varies widely from State to State.

With about 12 years being the normal design life of modern cars, 25 years is about double and therefore a car that’s reached 25 is a rare survivor, and probably not economic to maintain as regular transportation.

The term Classic Car is often used synonymously with the term Antique car, but the formal definition of that term is restricted to specific high-quality vehicles from the pre-World War II era which began with the Great Depression in 1930 and ended with the recovery after World War II in 1948. The Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) defines the term Classic as a fine” or “distinctive” automobile, either American or foreign built, produced between 1925 and 1948. A Classic was high-priced when it was introduced and was built in very limited quantities. Although, by 1930s most of the manufacturing technologies had already been invented, certain factors like including engine displacement, custom coachwork and luxury accessories, such as power brakes, power clutch, and automatic lubrication systems, help determine whether a car can be considered a Classic.

Some exemplary pre-war Antique Classics are:

1. 19341940 Bugatti Type 57. The Type 57SC has become the singular classic car.

2. 1934 Citron Traction Avant. Has the distinction of being the first mass-produced front-wheel drive car,

3. 1936 MG T series, a sports car meant especially for American soldiers fighting in the war.

4. 1938 Volkswagen Beetle, the most-famous automobile of all times. It was a pre-war design that continues to exist even in the present times.

The CCCA Club keeps a thorough list of the vehicles they consider Classics, and while any member may petition for a vehicle to join the list, such applications are carefully scrutinized and very rarely is a new vehicle type admitted. They also acknowledge the fact that their rather exclusive definition of a classic car is by no means universally followed and hence they generally use terms such as CCCA Classic or the trademarked Full Classic to avoid confusion.

After 1930 the number of auto manufacturers came down sharply, as the industry consolidated, and developed after the war more advances in engine design were made, like the compression V8 engines and modern bodies from General Motors, Oldsmobile and Cadillac brands.

Cash registers are the devices used in a company or organization for estimating and registering sales and transactions. They also have an attached drawer for maintaining the currency. Some also come with the facilities to print receipts. James Ritty, a businessman invented the cash register after the American civil war. The National Cash Register company was one of the major companies to produce cash registers. They also invented the concept of printing receipts.

The main aim of the cash register is to prevent theft by employees. In fact, they were solely made with this purpose in mind. These devices are huge and heavily built. They have doors on the top, which can be opened by the key. The very first registers were entirely mechanical. In those days, the drawer could be opened only after the sales. During every transaction, the clerk or the employee had to ring on the cash register. When the drawer opened, a bell would ring which alerted the boss about the transactions. This machine proved to be a turning point, as it substantially brought down the rate of frauds and defalcation. Nowadays, electronic cash registers have taken the place of mechanical cash registers.

Many companies sell antique cash registers. The National Cash Register company even auctions rare and old cash registers, you can bid for whichever model you like. You can even get a cash register that dates back to 100 years. You can also find some models in good working condition. Some companies also provide free shipping services to the customers. The value of the vintage cash registers depends on various features.

The material the cash registers are made of

Their condition also matters. If they are in the working condition, they will be more expensive.

Their tenuity

The additional facilities they provide, such as the printer or a clock. The vintage cash registers are made either of wood or metal. The wooden ones are quite cheap. Their prices range from $50 to $300. In case of the metal ones, the prices depend on the type of metal used. The prices of metal cash registers start from $1000. Most antique cash registers are made of brass, they can also be plated with nickel or copper. The solid brass cash registers are the most expensive. You can also get it polished to give that golden-red color. You can have it lacquered to prevent it from being tarnished.

The nickel plated cash registers do not have a finished look. One easy way of identifying the nickel plated cash registers is examining the front drawer of the register. Most of the time, the front drawers of these registers are made of solid nickel. One advantage of the nickel plated cash register is that they do not tarnish with age. The copper ones when polished, look just like the bronze registers. But they lose their finish very easily. The copper oxidized cash registers are available in cast iron or bronze. People generally confuse them with copper plated cash registers. If the finishing is done properly, they can also have the elegant look of brass cash registers.

Consider the above information before buying an antique cash register. If you plan to do some finishing work on your cash register, check its worth because restoring can prove to be very expensive. Vintage cash registers may not be as efficient as electronic cash registers, but they are considered to be classic. They can never become outdated.
